Website Manager

Summary:

Ford’s Theatre seeks a talented, enthusiastic Website Manager to manage web operations.  This is a new position with Ford’s Theatre that will allow the successful candidate to have a significant role in setting the future direction of the theatre’s web operations. 

The ideal candidate is someone who works well in a team environment, has strong collaboration skills, excellent technical skills, understands marketing, and enjoys the arts.  The Website Manager will primarily work with non-technical people, so good communication skills are a must. 

The successful candidate will often act as an on-staff consultant, working with different departments to help them achieve their goals.  These departments include box office, development/fund-raising, and education.

This position requires strong project management and prioritization skills.  

This is an opportunity for the right candidate to develop and showcase their skills while working on a nationally recognized theatre’s web site.  Love of theatre and sense of humor preferred. 

 Duties include:

  • Lead the ongoing development of fords.org.
  • Help evolve the site to be a resource for people who want to learn more about Abraham Lincoln.  This would involve more interactive tools, video, audio, and curriculum guides. 
  • Help streamline the user experience by restructuring parts of the site. 
  • Create balance between pages served by CMS and flat HTML files. 
  • Train staff to use CMS and/or Contribute to edit pages on the site. 
  • Work with the theatre’s education department to find creative ways to reach educators, administrators, and students.  This could include Web 2.0, social networking, streaming, etc. 
  • Communicate with senior staff to prioritize website projects.
  • Develop usage reporting analysis capabilities and make recommendations to increase site activity and revenue potential.
  • Program HTML-rich email messages

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years experience managing and editing professional web sites and applications
  • Ability to coordinate communications between and across all departments
  • Proficiency in Dreamweaver, Contribute, and Photoshop
  • Ability to analyze and hand-code basic HTML
  • Knowledge of video/audio production and publishing
  • Fluency in HTML, DHTML, PHP and CSS
  • Organized, attention to detail, ability to take on many projects under deadline pressure
  • Experience with Flash a plus

Education Programs Coordinator

The Education Programs Coordinator is a new position, an integral part of a growing theatre/museum/historic site education office in the new Center for Education and Leadership.  This position requires an unflappable, detail-oriented personality with strong phone and writing skills and a desire to serve young people locally and nationally.  Sense of humor and desire to grow with the program are a must. 

The Education Programs Coordinator will

  • Oversee logistics for a range of education programs, including school programs and Teacher Fellows summer institutes.  This work requires regular communication with teachers and school administrators, as well as members of the production, marketing and communications offices.  
  • Facilitate design and distribution of education marketing materials
  • Act as first point of contact with the Education office for schools and other customer inquiries
  • Maintain all school and program attendance and inquiry information in the Archtics database
  • Keep the program calendar accurate and up to date
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the department as needed. 

The Coordinator reports to the Director of Education, with guidance from the Education Programs Manager. Center for Education and Leadership Goals

It will be the primary goal of the Ford’s Theatre Center for Education and Leadership to oversee the fulfillment of the education portion of Ford’s mission to honor the spirit and legacy of President Abraham Lincoln by exploring the human experience through theatre and education.  The Education Program uses performance strategies and museum learning as means of educating about history and leadership. 

Specific goals include:

  • to deepen the experience of the visitor to Ford’s Theatre and enhance his or her understanding of President Lincoln, Washington under Lincoln’s Presidency, the Civil War, the events surrounding the assassination and its aftermath, and the legacy of leadership and compassion left to us by President Lincoln;
  • to make available to students and teachers here in Washington, across the nation, and all over the world materials and resources that will keep alive the vision and values of America’s greatest President; and
  • to integrate the arts and crafts of performance and storytelling, and the lens of museum education, into Ford’s educational programming as effective and dynamic tools to teach the lessons of Lincoln’s Presidency and legacy.

Production Administrator

Successful candidate will assist Associate Producer and Company Manager in administration of artistic and production departments.  Strong computer skills are a must.  Candidate must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to work constructively with artists, vendors and staff.  Love of theatre and history a plus. 

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Execute all artistic contracts:  prepare and mail signature copies signature copies to agents/artists, and track receipt of executed agreements.
  2. Maintain up to date tracking on status of all offers and contracts.
  3. Execute and track all artistic fee payments.
  4. Maintain up to date agent list (actors, designers, directors).
  5. Compile company contact information for each production as contracts are executed.
  6. Maintain all LORT compliance and filings with AEA, SSDC, USA.  (see attached)
  7. Maintain the Production Department financial records.  Track all methods of spending including petty cash, check requests, credit cards, reimbursements and executed contracts.
  8. Monitor Production Department spending relative to the monthly general ledger from the Finance Department.
  9. Provide additional Company Management support as needed.
  10. Provide general administrative support to Associate Producer.
  11. Manage the theatre’s resources as required by the Associate Producer for theatre programs, including, but not limited to: special events, education and community outreach programs, and other non-FTS building functions.
  12. Perform any related duties as requested by the Associate Producer.
