Teacher Preview Workshops
Ford’s Theatre offers a free preview performance and workshop to Washington-area educators who have reserved tickets for a student matinee. You will begin the evening with a complimentary dinner and networking with other teachers. Next, engage in a dynamic workshop where you’ll learn exciting ways to bring our show’s concepts back to your classroom. To complete your experience, attend that evening’s performance at Ford’s Theatre. It’s a great night out for educators, and you’ll be better prepared to engage your students with the show’s themes.
The Sister Act teacher preview will take place on March 18th, 2025.
This year’s Teacher Preview Workshop will be “The Spark of Inspiration: From Source Material to Musical Theatre,” where we explore how to turn a story from its original source into a musical.
Have you ever seen a story burst onto stage in a whirlwind of song and dance? That’s the magic of musicals! Sister Act – a fun movie becomes a fantastic musical, proving how catchy tunes and snappy choreography can bring any story to life. This lesson plan, “The Spark of Inspiration,” is all about turning stories (books, plays, movies – you name it!) into musicals. Get ready to unleash your inner Broadway Composer as we explore storytelling, how music makes it even better, and brainstorm your very own musical masterpiece!
Applications for the Sister Act Teacher Preview Workshop are now closed.
